You can do some of thes from an MS-DOS prompt already:
In a message dated 95-10-05 13:35:34 EDT, you write:
>1. Simple renaming ability: Hummer001.tga => Hum001.tga
Rename Hummer???.tga Hum???.tga
>2. Extension renaming: Hum001.tga => Hum001.bmp
Rename Hum*.tga Hum*.bmp
>3. Extension stripping: Hum001.tga => Hum001
Rename Hum*.tga Hum*
>4. Extension adding: Hum001 => Hum001.tga
Rename Hum* Hum*.tga
>5. Number formatting: Hum001.tga => Hum0001.tga
> Hum0001.tga => Hum001.tga
> Hum001 => Hum.0001
>6. Number adding/subtracting: Hum0001.tga => Hum0031.tga
> Hum061 => Hum031
_These_ would be nice to have!
